#1 The Shawshank Redemption

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111161/

No where to start but the top.  Number 1 on the list is, "The Shawshank Redemption".  I have seen this movie before so this viewing was mainly to see how enjoyable the movie was on a repeat viewing.  Morgan Freeman just steals this movie for me.  What a great performance.  I found out that he was not originally cast to play the role of "Red".  I have never read the book and did not know that the character in the book was a middle aged red haired Irishman.  The movie has a quick little in-joke at the casting of Morgan in the role.  Not the biggest fan of Tim Robbins in the lead role, but he does okay with what he has to work with as Andy Dufresne.  I know picking a number 1 movie on any list is going to cause a lot of controversy.  What I love about the IMDB list is it's not gathered from a group of self titled experts in the industry.  User vote score and count are weighted on the list.  Also of note, I fell asleep towards the end of the movie.  I don't consider the movie boring, but I was exhausted after a long day.  This may not be my number 1 movie of all time, but definitely enjoyed it.  Let me know what you thought.

My Journey

Welcome to my first blog.  In this blog I will be discussing my journey through the Top 250 movies at IMDB.  I am not a profession film critic.  What I have to say about these films will mostly be short and to the point.  I would hope that if you stumbled upon this blog that you take the time to share your thoughts with me regarding the movies I post.

Thank you,
